Solid proof that I'm simply not dead yet.
Its been a hot minute since I've posted or touched the website, but I just wanted to take this opportunity to let you all know I'm not dead (yet). Through the long processes of falling in love, moving, switching jobs, and a myriad of other events in my life of late, I've had precious little time to devote to writing.
*BUT*
I do have a book at the submission stage. And I do have several smaller works waiting in reserve for the right magazine or journal to pick them up. Assuming all goes well, my first print publication outside of a writer's journal should be a children's book. Its a little passion project I've been cooking since the pandemic, conceived roughly around the time Covid was breaking out in China and just about to spread around the world. I was working with children in the USA and, long story short, ended up with a great idea for a book in my hands. So now after spending several years cooking on the backburner, this work is ready for submission and, though that is certainly a process, I expect (or hope) that it won't be quite as grueling as writing a massive novel or getting an eight chapter story board into graphic format. That...has been a challenge.
Americans In Space is my other work I have eyes on, but as of now its a bit slow. To be very honest, if a certain US presidential candidate is re-elected, I may be very motivated to finish it. But barring that I am unsure on its current status. I've been chipping away on it, and the work is definitely good for a debut into adult graphic novels. But the storyboard is two chapters away from completion, the entire thing needs looked over with a fine-toothed comb, and then all eight chapters need to be adapted to a comic script, which, while I am VERY confident will go well, will still take time and need discretion. And focus. Good God I can not focus.
But beyond that I am doing well, just busy with other things. I am enjoying living in Chicago while still having chances to escape and get to the countryside. My job is well, my family is well, and life continues on at a steady, if not alarming pace. I am happy, and for right now, that's all that should matter. Plus I have the best wife in the world and I couldn't be more supported by her. And that is worth everything in the world.
Wishing you the best until I see you again,
Christopher C Tennant
